Free consultation gives you an opportunity to “test the waters”, and get to know me. I am looking to develop long-term working relationships with my clients. I aim at holistic care and want to work on all levels to reach optimum results when it comes to the area of hoof care (and horse care). As a client, you will have an opportunity to ask me questions and learn some more about Natural Horse Care and Natural Hoof Care free of charge. My goal is to popularise the idea of the naturalising lifestyle of our domesticated horses, because when they have the optimum conditions to be as they were designed by nature, (as horse owners) we enjoy and benefit from their well-being immeasurably. During our first consultation, we can establish the level of care required and adjust it to your needs.
The Natural Trim mimics the Natural Wear Patterns of the wild, free-roaming horses of the U.S. Great Basin. Achieving biodynamically balanced hooves requires precision trimming, a marker of the Natural Trim. Facilitating the Natural Trim means that the hoof is not forced into any given shape, but allowed to respond to practitioner mimicking the natural wear patterns. Biodynamically balanced hooves according to the U.S. Great Basin Wild Horse Model are achieved through the application of proven Principles and Practices of the natural Horse Care evidenced further at AANHCP Headquaters Lompoc between 2010 – 2018.
As an ISNHCP certified Natural Hoof Care Practitioner I take sole responsibility for the trim practice and appointment schedule. Despite growing popularity of DIY approach to hoof care I have come to understand that much harm at the hoof is being done through the “fast-track” online training, and few day “learn the barefoot secrets” clinic gateways. Providers of such education take no responsibility for the long-term consequences of misguided practices. Invariably the hooves get out of control and the sad scenario of the horse being put down is a common place. Speaking from my own experience, hoof care training requires as much time in learning theory and practice as any other Profession in a structured and organised way. Natural Hoof Care differs significantly from other trim methods meaning that tools are deployed with consideration to not weaken the hoof armour. Healthy hoof emerges through diligent application of the four Pillars of Natural Horse Care. As part of the Natural Hoof Care practice we will be taking measurements using Hoof Meter Reader and create track record of hoof size and angle in relation to the wild horse hoof Litchfield BLM Corrals data produced by Jaime Jackson, it provides invaluable information to the practitioner on hoof health.
I integrate behavioral work with hoof care to create a relaxed and safe environment for trimming. Many horses suffer in silence, and difficulties during handling often stem from unresolved emotional or communication issues.
Horses that appear difficult, resentful, angry, or disassociated are often misunderstood. In these cases, the connection between horse and human has broken down. My behavioural work focuses on restoring that connection by emphasizing leadership, body language, recognising the underlying emotions, and developing trust.
Horses, like humans, are individuals with their own social behaviours—some of which may challenge our conditioned beliefs about what is acceptable. As caretakers, it is our responsibility to understand their language and adapt to it rather than expecting them to conform to ours.
I use techniques such as positive reinforcement, relative dominance, counterconditioning, and emotional intelligence to improve horse-human communication. My holistic and professional approach to equine handling includes hands-on work, practical instruction, and take-home exercises to support lasting progress.
My natural horse care consultations provide a holistic approach to equine well-being, addressing nutrition, hoof care, environment, and overall management. Many common issues—such as poor hoof condition, behavioral challenges, digestive problems, or stress-related concerns—stem from imbalances in these areas. By considering the horse’s natural instincts, social needs, and physiological requirements, I help owners identify and resolve the root causes of discomfort or dysfunction. Whether it’s optimizing diet, improving hoof health, adjusting turnout routines, or enhancing communication, each consultation is tailored to the individual horse. The goal is to support a sound, happy, and resilient horse through informed, practical, and sustainable care methods.
